Greens Farms Church Service Day volunteers Re-set Headstones at the Lower Cemetery

Greens Farms Church Service Day volunteers
re-setting headstones at the Lower Cemetery

Supervised by Greens Farms Church Historian Peter Jennings, 11th Generation Westport resident, great-grandson of Bessie Jennings, originator of the Jennings Trail, a group of church volunteers + backhoe + shovels + pulleys + additional mechanisms recently tackled a restoration project at Greens Farms Lower Cemetery. Taking on the task of re-setting many of the headstones that had fallen or were vandalized was a preservationist project that provided a sense of satisfaction and historical enlightenment. The volunteers also set stone pillars marking the new (more accessible) entrance to the cemetery on Nyala Farms Road.
